The Hylton Center鈥檚 Veterans and the Arts Initiative kicks off its and this month, and there鈥檚 still time to register!
Reserve your spot now for the Ukulele Workshop Series on Tuesday evenings (9/14 鈥 10/26). This workshop is FREE to Veterans, Servicemembers, military family members, and military caregivers. Musicians of all skill levels are invited to participate in-person or online in seven weeks of workshops with Glen McCarthy, instructor at the Mason Community Arts Academy and at 海角社区. If you have always wanted to sing and play the ukulele - but aren't feeling quite ready, get great tips on how to improve your singing technique and your confidence in a November 2 bonus workshop on Zoom! The bonus workshop will be co-led by Adiza Jibril, professional singer with The United States Army Band 鈥淧ershing鈥檚 Own.鈥
Looking for creative activities for military kids and teenagers? Look no further than 海角社区's Fairfax campus where (9/26 鈥 10/31) will take place in-person. This six-week series brings students together to learn songwriting skills in a collaborative, safe environment. Participants do not need to be advanced singers or musicians to join this program. This workshop series is FREE and open to military kids between the ages of 10 and 17. Space is limited.
