Mason's Board of Visitors last week approved the renaming of the School of Business to the Donald G. Costello College of Business to better reflect the unit’s size and stature. The business school was initially named in honor of Costello, a late Northern Virginia entrepreneur, in April, retaining the “school” designation.

Mark Ginsberg has been the Senior Vice President and Provost of Mason since September 2020 and before that served as dean of the College of Education and Human Development.

In May 2023, Mason honored philanthropist Diane Portnoy with an honorary doctor of humane letters, given in recognition of her extraordinary contribution to society and decades of service in support of immigrants and refugees.

On June 28, Dean Fernando Miralles-Wilhelm, U.S. Representative Gerry Connolly, and James Kinter, director of Mason’s Center for Ocean-Land-Atmosphere Studies, discussed how the Virginia Climate Center is helping communities increase resilience to the impacts of climate change.

Nearly 100 student representatives and 20 advisors from 13 Fairfax County public high schools gathered on Mason’s Fairfax �������� in June for a day of workshops and team-building activities to support the peer-led student ambassadors program.

Josh Cantor, Mason’s director of Parking and Transportation, accepted the award at a ceremony held at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.
