Students in the Center for Adaptive Systems of Brain-Body Interactions (CASBBI) NSF Research Traineeship (NRT) Program learn how to apply interdisciplinary, community-focused research to find solutions to the world’s grand challenges. 

In the quest to combat Alzheimer's disease, George Mason professor Abolfazl Safikhani is working with neuroscientists and imaging experts at the University of Washington’s Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (ADRC) to pioneer groundbreaking advancements in biomarker identification. 

Carolyn Drews-Botsch, professor of global and community health, will be traveling to Ireland on a Fulbright in the fall of 2024 for this hybrid teaching and research role.

President Washington and IFEZA Commissioner Wonsok Yun led the signing ceremony, paving the way for expanded collaboration on industry–academia projects between Mason Korea, located in the Songdo International Business District of IFEZ, and the IFEZA.

These experts explored how George Mason's research is powering key industrial segments, including bioscience, artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, power engineering and shipbuilding.

Building on his ongoing commitment to Mason Korea, advisory board member Sam Machour recently announced a new $60,000 pledge for student scholarships. The announcement was made during the Friends of Mason Korea 10th Anniversary Celebration.

The Class of 2024 graduated into a relatively challenging labor market. Jackie Brown, assistant professor in the Business Foundations area at the Costello College of Business at º£½ÇÉçÇø, said recent grads should be leaning a little harder into core professional skills, such as networking.

Mason alum Daniel (Seihoon) Lee said felt like an outsider for much of his life. Bilingual, bicultural, and homeschooled for a time, Lee struggled to figure out where he fit in until he came to Mason Korea.

º£½ÇÉçÇø Korea kicked off its 10th anniversary celebrations with a lively reception that brought together Mason Korea students, faculty, and staff, current and past leaders, visitors from George Mason's Fairfax º£½ÇÉçÇø; and members of the Mason Korea advisory board.

º£½ÇÉçÇø student-athletes continued to post impressive scores in the Academic Progress Rate (APR) release by the NCAA. Four programs produced perfect multi-year NCAA APR scores of 1,000 while a total of 11 teams had a perfect APR for the 2022-23 academic year.

º£½ÇÉçÇø graduate student Truman Deree is one of 20 students (one of five graduate fellows) awarded a 2024-25 Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Visual Arts Fellowship. He received the award for his photography, which he also shares at TrumanDereePhotography on Instagram.

George Mason researcher Andrew Peterson is part of a team that worked to identify key ethics and policy issues related to the integration of psychedelic therapies into clinical practice and areas for further research and deliberation.
