��������’s Potomac Science Center on Belmont Bay is a destination for environmental science research within the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Slightly inland from shore, on a recent day in early March, the retention pond next to the center needed to be emptied to make changes to the drainage system. The Mason Nation was ready to rescue some of the creatures affected.

With state-of-the-art teaching labs and fabrication facilities, the Life Sciences Engineering Building (LSEB) lets students and faculty get their hands dirty in this brand-new multiuse active learning space. �������� professor Samantha Viano is leading a multi-university team to assess the impact of school security equipment (SSE) grants on school violence, safety, and related outcomes. The new College of Visual and Performing Arts special topics course AVT 496 focuses on furniture design and is offered through the university’s School of Art. As a part of the course, the students will tour the National Gallery of Art and put what they’ve learned to practice by identifying and recommending ways to create a more welcoming environment for people to experience the art.

�������� is pleased to announce Cody W. Edwards as the new dean of the College of Science (COS), effective immediately. Edwards has served as interim dean for COS since July 2024.
