The intersection of art and technology has long been a space for innovation, creativity, and exploration. At George Mason’s Mason Autonomy and Robotics Center (MARC) located within the College of Engineering and Computing, this connection has taken center stage with the Integrating Art and Tech Project.

During the fall 2024 semester, �������� students had the opportunity to apply their classroom curriculum to a real-world museum environment. The students, led by art history professor Robert DeCaroli, worked directly with objects in the holdings of the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of Asian Art as part of the ARTH 495/595 Curating an Exhibit course.

�������� has received Virginia Board of Education funding for two of 14 lab schools being established around the commonwealth.

Stanley and Rosemary Hayes Jones continue their legacy of philanthropy at �������� with a transformative $1 million gift to establish the Stanley and Rosemary Hayes Jones Networking Testbed Lab within the Fuse at Mason Square building.

Mason Community Arts Academy has been named one of the Best Summer Camps by  Northern Virginia Magazine every year since 2021. This summer, the program broke multiple records including the number of student participants at just under 1,900. The Acting for Young People program also broke its attendance record with 950 students.

George Mason researcher David Luther is leading a project that is using AI models to help identify species and track biodiversity in Brazilian rainforests.

This year, College of Public Health professor James (Jim) Metcalf joined some very rare company, becoming the fourth �������� faculty member to mark 50 years of service.

Each year, the �������� Alumni Association’s annual Celebration of Distinction recognizes outstanding alumni, faculty members, and students.

The Hylton Performing Arts Center opened its doors at �������� in 2010, and Marit Majeske, education coordinator, has been along for the ride ever since. Located on George Mason’s Science and Technology �������� in Manassas, Virginia, the Hylton Center is managed by the College of Visual and Performing Arts.

In July, Charles “Cully” Stimson, JD ‘92, was elected as rector of the �������� Board of Visitors. A businessman and attorney, Stimson is the deputy director of the Edwin Meese III Center for Legal and Judicial Studies, Senior Legal Fellow, manager of the National Security Law Program, and senior advisor to the president at The Heritage Foundation.

�������� is Virginia's leading university for value, upward mobility and internships, and ranked in the top 25 nationally for innovation according to U.S. News & World Report's Best Colleges 2025 released today.

In this role, Shehu will lead the strategy and implementation of AI across research, academics, and partnerships for the university, maximizing opportunity and adoption in addressing the world’s grand challenges while leading on ethical considerations, governance, and risk mitigation.
