Federico Frum, BA Art and Visual Technology ’05, believes in the power of art to bring people together. Known professionally as MasPaz—Spanish for “more peace”—Frum has spent his career fusing activism and creativity, using bold street murals, community engagement, and cultural storytelling to spread a message of unity.

Death has been the constant companion in Steven Luu’s life—from war-torn Vietnam to the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan. But through art, Luu, now an MFA student at ��������’s School of Art, has discovered peace, purpose, and a path to healing.

The new College of Visual and Performing Arts special topics course AVT 496 focuses on furniture design and is offered through the university’s School of Art. As a part of the course, the students will tour the National Gallery of Art and put what they’ve learned to practice by identifying and recommending ways to create a more welcoming environment for people to experience the art.

Four students in George Mason’s College of Visual and Performing Arts will have original animations displayed on screens in six Metro stations as part of the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority’s Art in Transit Program, beginning the first week of December 2024. These animations will be on rotation in the stations for a full year.

As a Fulbright U.S. Scholar, Professor Chawky Frenn will conduct international research while teaching at Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi, India, in the fall.

�������� has joined the Alliance of Art Research Universities (a2ru) as an institutional member. This action uniquely positions George Mason among other R1 institutions to support an emerging research culture in the arts.

Prof. Andy Yoder is featured in a new exhibition on April 6, 2024 called 'Strata of Synthesis' at Mono Practice in Baltimore, MD. The work in the exhibition examines the natural world as a fantastical state and proposes connections in historical and contemporary crises relating to intricate layers of domestic and societal narratives.

Icons of Fashion is a  209 foot long, 7 foot tall mural at Tysons Corner Center.

Thirty students, from first-years to PhDs in a variety of majors, participated in the MIX's eight-week Unmanned Aerial Systems Prototyping course this fall.
