As a photographer in Creative Services at ��������, Evan Cantwell spends his time at work capturing moments across the university. Cantwell is also a 25- year survivor of colorectal cancer. He has found ways to connect with other survivors and help spread awareness of colorectal cancer, which is now affecting more and more young people in the United States.

�������� student researchers were among those that gathered on the Fairfax �������� in March for the Access to Research and Inclusive Excellence (ARIE) National Conference. In addition to speakers and breakout sessions on various topics, the two-day conference opened with a poster session with 49 groups presenting their research.

To mark Transit Driver Appreciation Day, the �������� community expressed gratitude for the public transit drivers who help the Mason Nation get to school, work, and around town.

��������’s Potomac Science Center hosted the Girls in STEAM Empowerment Conference on Thursday, February 29. This annual event welcomed 60 middle school students for a day of science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics (STEAM).

Rachel Wernicke has worked as an Army officer, psychologist, therapist, and coach. In 2019, she moved into her current role: associate dean and chief mental health officer at ��������.

��������’s Contemporary Student Services has been recognized by the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) for its innovative approach to serving post-traditional and off-campus students.

Doug McKenna is university registrar at ��������. Many things change over the years at a college or university, but the university registrar serves as the guardian of something permanent. “I’m responsible for maintaining the student record in perpetuity,” said McKenna.

Arion Lillard-Green, already a Mason alum, returned to complete her PhD in health services research.

Will Gautney started working at ��������’s Center for the Arts as a part-time stagehand in 2013. The job involved lots of lifting, building, and prep work for shows. In 2018, he was hired full-time as assistant master electrician, his current role. He is also chair of Mason's Staff Senate.

As the weather cools off, fall is the perfect time to explore the outdoors. �������� offers students, faculty, and staff the opportunity to get outside and form connections with others in the Mason community through the Outdoor Adventures program, part of Mason Recreation.
