Mason Recreation celebrated the grand opening of its brand-new pickleball courts on Tuesday, July 18.

The Mason baseball team claimed the 2023 Atlantic 10 Baseball Championship with a 6-2 victory over fourth-seeded Saint Louis.

Mason Athletics has been building its leadership roster this spring with the addition of a new athletic director, a new men’s basketball head coach, and the extension of Mason’s women’s basketball head coach’s contract.

FAIRFAX, VA (April 19, 2023) �������� President Gregory Washington has named Marvin Lewis as the Patriots’ Assistant Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics. Lewis, who signed a five-year contract, will become Mason’s sixth athletics director when he begins on July 1.

A key starter on the 2006 George Mason Final Four team and one of the best all-around guards in program history, Skinn returns to his alma mater after nearly a decade of collegiate coaching.

“We are moving quickly and looking nationwide to identify our next men’s head basketball coach, and we expect to have an announcement soon,” Washington said.

Rebecca (Becky) Hartley, who held the position of Assistant Vice President, Research Integrity and Assurance, in the Office of Research, Innovation, and Economic Impact, died October 16 at the age of 58.

The passage of Title IX in 1972 also marked the beginning of athletic opportunities for women at ��������. Mason's first women's sport—tennis—started its inaugural season in 1972-73.
