Conjuring Presence is an exhibition of visual art and poetry featuring �������� students, faculty, and alumni at the Fenwick Gallery in Fenwick Library on the Fairfax ��������.

The topic of “cancel culture” is not new in the public discourse, but Mason communication professor Sergei A. Samoilenko believes he can take the discussion in a new direction.

Most people with access to a 3D printer find themselves creating small objects or gadgets. But one student group working at the MIX at �������� each Friday is driven by a different dream.

“We build, design, test and plan to compete in solar-powered car competitions,” said Michael Riggi, president of Mason’s solar car team, HyperNova Solar. “[We believe] our car, when complete, will be the world’s first and only 3D-printed solar car.”

Mason doctoral students LeNaya Crandall Hezel and Lt. Col. Michelle Ruehl are part of the 2021 class of Tillman Scholars, named in honor of Pat Tillman, the former NFL star who was killed in Afghanistan in 2004 while serving with the U.S. Army Rangers.

Isidore Nsengiyumva, only four years old at the time, was in the fields with his father and older brother in Burundi, when suddenly they heard the sound of motors and guns. Troops involved in the country’s civil war attacked their village, and rapidly, their lives were changed.

“We hid in a bush, and when the noise of the guns and fighting subsided, we went back and found our home burned,” Nsengiyumva said. “That’s when my dad decided it was no longer safe.”
